Ashley wants to make YOU part of what's happening in Atlanta!
Amazing team today! We started at the Buford Highway Farmers Market.
Can you guess what this is? Hog head!
The team and the youth pastor had a dare devil beat who could find the weirdest food and the eat it! YUCK! Dried shrimp and sea squid salad.

The best part was MISSIONS!!!
They all performed at Don Juan/ Pearl Lane.

The repairman did rewire the dryer for maximum efficiency.
WOW! Did it rain today!
I meet with the leaders of Mobilizing Students. We went over the weeks itinerary and smoothed out some wrinkles.
Still feeling sick so I came home and rested.

Why hello there! Feeling a lot better today than yesterday. Sleep is a wonderful healer. Before Dad and Mom picked me up for work, I finished setting up all the wedding decorations.
I put river stones, moss, flowers and tea lights into different jars. Then I organized them by tables for a quick set up.
After lunch, we talked to the managers at Highland Corners, Bella Apartments and Standford Village. We’re looking forward to working with them when the Perimeter team comes in July.
Always a good time with the best missionaries I know!
The Chinese team is doing a fabulous job at Azalea. Today I sat with the girls as we made bird feeders. Jocelyn asked me if I was born in 1957. I just looked at her and laughed.
Lynsie got back last night from Ireland, so we went to welcome her back to the States.

This poor dog did NOT want a haircut.
Yesterday I found a picture of Miles when he was 16. We’d just started dating.

Had a great day with Dad today. We had lunch with Larry Anderson, Executive Director of Youth Outreach United, where I used to work before coming on board with Whirlwind.
The Azalea kids are almost out of school for the summer! I know they’re looking forward to the summer teams coming. Dad helped Jason learn how to regroup.
Today was Jocelyn’s 10th birthday. She’s one of my favorites. I slipped her a five dollar bill and she almost wouldn’t take it. ” No, this is yours.” She’d smile shyly. “No, This is YOURS from Miles and I.” I pushed it back into her sweaty palm. To which she replied, “I love you.”
The Virginia Tech team is doing some GREAT work!
Last night Miles and I had dinner with some friends at Raging Burrito in Decatur. poor Rachel was SO sunburned.
While we were thrifting, Dad picked up a book about Fundraising, so I’m looking forward to reading that some tonight.

We went back to his office to talk to his apparel lady, Cindy. She walked us through some choices.
Started opening up some new work on Buford Highway. Please be praying that the managers are receptive.
Had fun with the kids.
Good to see Aylin again.
On the way home, a lady called crying. She had just been abandoned by her husband and was left with her five small children. I was able to pray with her and give her some strength. She sounded MUCH better afterwards. Please keep her in your prayers.
I feel like “mini Tim.”
Working on some Whirlwind Maps.

This morning I meet Mama and Aunt Ann and Orene at Smokrise BC. We enjoyed learning about missions in Appalachia, TN. The missionary was telling us that it’s very dangerous up in the mountains, not because of bears but because of Meth cookers who will shoot you on site.
Then Mo and I spoke about what Whirlwind Mission is doing this summer. We have over 250 students coming in one week!
Happy 98th birthday to one of our great supporters, Mrs. Tommie Benifield.
Dropped the Lumina off at T&G. They said her front brakes were obliterated! Thank you Lord for keeping me safe! It’s going to cost about $800 to fix it. Good thing I got some graduation money.
Ate lunch with Mom and Dad then Dad and I ran some errands. We picked up a white board to help us map out which mission complexes each team is going to. The big team with the BIG bus is a little more complicated.
Then off to see the kids!

Yes, it’s true what you’ve read. Today I took my last college finals. At 10 am I performed an original poem for my creative writing final.
Then after lunch, I took my Geology final.
It was more difficult with specific questions about stromatolites and certain epochs. I still pulled off a 90 in the class!
I think it was because of the T-Rex video we made. Professor Fitzpatrick emailed us saying he’d shared it with the whole Geology department.
Lynsie and I went to get our haircut and colored for graduation on Friday.
Can’t wait to start this new phase of my life. I’ll be working full time at the mission, along with getting more churches involved in the community, and taking teams on tour.
Looking forward to speaking with Mountain Park Baptist Church about Islam tomorrow evening.
Love,
Ashley

This made Miles and I laugh…

Worked with my Communications team on our nonprofit group project on the Alzheimer’s Association.
Came home and colored on my chalkboard. Old school!
The kids helped us with the labels.
Even Neyton’s mom got down on the floor to help.
Helped Fabiloa with her book report.
I liked Jossie’s earrings.
And Sanjida’s bracelet. It has her nickname on it, Meem.
Niche is going to Bangladesh for 3 months soon. Sanjida was very jealous. “I wish I could go!”
“Why don’t you cut off your legs then you’ll go to heaven.”Niche said back.
“How’s cutting off your legs get you to heaven?” I asked.
“Because then you’d die.” Niche said.
“Yeah, but did you know killing yourself is a sin?” Sanjida enlightened Niche.
“Yeah, suicide is a sin in the Bible too.” I told them.
“Huh…” The girls shook their heads.
It’s all about building bridges.
” I still wish I was going to Bangladesh because then I could see my family and eat good food.”Sanjida said.
“Oh! What food do you like to eat for snack?” I asked.
“Jhal Muri!”
“Do you have any at your house? I’m hungry!” My mouth begins to water.
“Sure! I’ll bring you some.”
She runs off and in a minute is back with a Styrofoam cup full of what looks like crunch chex mix.
It was crunchy with spicy peanut bits with a hint of cinnamon. Really good. I shared with the kids and most of them liked it.
Always fun to hang out with my Bengali friends.

Ash

Tutoring at Azalea. Helped Jocelyn with her book report.
She was doing it on a Lucky Charms cereal box. Sanjida said, “Oh! Those marshmellows look good, but I can’t eat those.”
“What? Why not?”I asked looking at the delicious rainbows and pots of gold.
“No, Bengali muslims are supposed to, and I tried some once before I knew and they were SO good.” Sanjida said.
Interesting…
There were a lot of kids to help today. I love to see a full mission!
This is how I like to do homework. Spread out on the floor.
Dad’s so good with the kids! He’s singing here.
At Azalea we balance homework and fun.
