I shipped my textbooks back to Amazon for free today with the Trade In Program.
Wrote thank you notes for supporters of my family’s ministry on Nepalese paper grown in the Himilyas.Want to get one? Send your address to ashleycummins@gmail.com.
I love coming out to the farm on sunny summer days.
Milo and I went to hang out and take pictures of, Punkin’, the new horse.
Shelby says, “Haaayyy…”
I rode King out in the corral near the pasture.
While Miles took pictures of the dog.
Take a look at the new brookwoodranch.com website.
What a fun day with Dad and J. We started out giving a briefing to the VA Tech team at FBC Doraville. Then we headed over to the International Farmer’s Market.
They have some WEIRD things there…
… and yummy.
Then we ate the best steak quesadillas in town at Carnicaria Numero Uno.
Off to the service projects. At Azalea we organized the closets and prepared the mission for it’s paint job tomorrow.
Had fun with the kids.
Isn’t Pam’s bunny, Robby, cute? He looks a little scared, though.
This is how Brianna feels about getting out of school for the summer.
Worked on my World History study guide with some classmates this morning. Tomorrow is my last final and then SUMMER TIME, Baby!
Drove over to Mrs. Zana’s house to teach her how to upload a blog post to her website that I built for her. Check it out! http://www.brookwoodranch.wordpress.com.
I teach her about computers and she teaches me about being a cowgirl.
Had a good time at the mission. Today was a girly girl kind of day. After we worked on homework a couple of the girls gathered around and I painted their nails sparkly pink. Then we did eachother’s hair. It’s all about one-on-one relationships.
Home now to study for my final tomorrow. Be praying for me around 11:30.
Mo, J and Dad went to the Ren Fest while I stayed home to enjoy a run around the neighbor hood some Healthy Choice Chinese food…
…and study for my Business and Journalism finals tomorrow.
I treated Jessica to a Mother’s Day out. For her Mother’s day present she got “Kylie” inked on her right shoulder to balance the “Tyler” she got three years ago on his first birthday.
The whole family took Mo to the Planetarium for an early Mother’s Day present.
Eric Boe, a test pilot for NASA, was giving a presentation on the Discovery flight. His crew flew up to the International Space Station to do some installation.
J, Milo and I played racket ball for about an hour at the park.
This is Jesse before…
and after.
Celebrated the success of The Collegian from 2009 until now. Always a fun group to hang out with. I’m so happy I was able to be a part of The Collegian’s history.
Watched the Royal Wedding with Mo and J. It was hard to miss since it was on almost every channel.
Woke up early and ran two miles. I felt energized going to Anthropology.
Jesse called and asked me to bring the newsletter envelopes to FBCD. The family worked together signing them in Daddy’s office.

Dropped my car off at Azalea so we could all ride to Walmart together.
When we got back to Azalea group of kids ran up to our car.
“Mr. Tim! Mr. Tim! They broke Ashley’s car!”
Dad got out of his car and walked up to mine with the kids following close behind.
I got out and to see little pieces of tinted black glass all over the ground.
“What happened?” Dad asked.
“Some boys were throwing rocks at each other and one hit it. Then one boy ran home scarred.” Clinton explained.
I looked at my shattered back window.
“Do you know who did it? questioned my Dad.
“It wasn’t me.” “It wasn’t me!” The kids yelled. “I just go here.” “Yeah, me too!”Others shouted.
I knew the window could be replaced so it was hard to get too mad. I went in to the mission and enjoyed helping Jossie and Jocelyn with their math homework.
Dad and J swept up the sharp morsels.
As I sat at the table a few of the little boys came over to me and told me they were really sorry about my window.
I’m not positive who broke my rear windshield, but I know it was an accident. I’m just happy it hit my window instead of a little kids’ faces.
Fortunately V.J., a Hispanic man that lives above the mission, is an auto glass repair man and he offered to fix it tomorrow for $150.
Took a Business Informations System Exam today. Professor Hollingsworth allowed us to us our book which made it harder for me because I kept second guessing myself and spent the whole time flipping back and forth through the pages.
Learned about the German kings of the 11th century in World History.
Wrote press releases in News Writing. Mine looked so professional.
Thank you to all the Doverspike family who came to my mom’s party. We all had a great time sitting out on the porch eating cake and roasting each other.
The whole family drove up to Jerusalem, Georgia to participate in the Messianic Jewish seder at Cowboy church.
This is the first one I’ve ever been to and it was an amazing experience.
We ate bitter horseradish to remind us of the bitter times the Herbrew people faced leaving Egypt.
Here is the Rabbi Gary’s daughter explaining some of the foods.
Then they brought out the Passover lamb. He was SO cute. The rabbi explained that the Hebrew children would bring the baby lamb in and hand raise it for 10 days. They would develope a personal relationship with this animal but after the 10 days they would have to sacrifice it for Passover. This was to remind them of the personal relationship we have with Jesus and his life as a sacrifice for our sins.
Had a great week with the Azalea kids.We worked on math, reading and telling time.
Like Neyten’s watch?
The girls and I cut out dresses for paper dolls. This is Neyten’s older sister. She and her mom walked into the mission arm and arm. I’m so happy when I see mother’s and daughters that are close friends.
Jesse and I went to Taco Veloz. Yum! Sad to hear about the eggs…
Later that night Rachel, Anna and I meet up with Hannah to see her sister Tova play at Eddie’s Attic.
Yum! Pancake breakfast on the farm. Does it get any better than this?
Foothills held an interview on stage with all the missionaries then Tom Polak, a missionary in Indianapolis, delivered the message. He talked about having the right attitude for serving God.
The Cowboy kids and Rebecca Hampton did a great job at their interpretive dance.
After church the girls and I ate a hot dog lunch and hunted for Easter eggs.
Then we all loaded in the car and went to Mountain Manor Senior Living Home so they could preform again.
When we got back to the ranch we all got to go ride horses. It was so much fun. Being out there with the horses in the middle of the wild flower covered pasture can’t be beat.
Thank you Bec Bec and Cowgirls for making me feel so at home.
I got the pleasure to led the Foothills Community Church team around on a tour of the International Village.
Later Dad, J and I threw an Easter party for the kids.
I drove up to the North Georgia Mountains after the block party to speak at the Foothills Community Church dinner. We had a great time playing mission Jeopardy and eating lasagna.
That night I helped Rebecca Hampton and her Cowboy kids feed the horses.
What a long day full of good work.
I’m looking forward to speaking with the whole congregation tomorrow morning.
Miles, Mo and I had a great visit with Mohosana and her mom. She cooked kabobs and talked to us about her Bengali culture and learning to cook from her mother.
In this next video Mohosana’s mom sat down on a little wooden stool and pulled out a shear used for chopping vegetables from under the sink. She grips with her toes and chops with her hands.
Later on they invited us to an anniversary party for their friends.
As the sun went down all the Bengali people living at Azalea place gathered around the mailboxes and fired up the grill.
BBQ peppered chicken, beef with Soy sauce, fresh vegetables and juicy slices of watermelon.
The kids played four square in the streets.
I meet some of the new families, one girl imparticular had a big impact on me. Her name is Miriam but she goes by Mim. We had just finished a game of four square and were sitting around the smoking grill on fold out chairs.
“You’re a Christian ?” She asked with BBQ sauce smeared on her lips.
” Yes, I am.” I smile back.
“I’m Muslim.”
“We still have a lot of things in common though. Like you know Isa? He’s one of your profits. To Christians his name is Jesus.”
“You know who Allah is?” She takes another bite of the steak.
“Allah is your God.”
It’s at this point that little Rahat starts poking me with his little greasy finger. I turn to him and he tells me this is his seventh chicken breast!
I turn back toward Mim but the moments lost.
Please pray that she and her family will come get involved in the mission.
Otherwise the whole night was a big success. Miles made friends with the men and I meet with the mothers and daughters. I felt like we were a real missionary team.
Some how Fahim, a student of mine at the mission, got on the subject of death and burining bodies.
“Did you know that people get burned up after they die?” Fahim asked astonished.
“Well, you know as Christians we believe that our souls leave our bodies when we die and we go up to Heaven. It’s ok that our earlthly bodies die because it doesn’t last forever…only our spirt does.” I tell him.
Fahim shakes his head ” oh yeah I know… I know.” We get back to his science homework about microorganisms.
But maybe he did or maybe he didn’t know what Christians believed. But always be sensitive for divine appointments that God sets up for you.
I feel really confident about the Anthropology test I took today over Economic and Political structure of people groups.
After the test I went to shadow Rebecca Rakoczy, GPC’s Publication Specialist. I got to hang out behind the scenes of a photo shoot, I got a quick tutorial in photo shop and Rebecca introduced me to the whole Marketing department for Georgia Perimeter College. I learned a lot already after only spending a couple of hours with the lady. Her main piece of advice, “Never burn bridges.”
Wrote up some articles for my Journalism class, signed up for a summer creative writing class (only one more class until I graduate GPC!) and now I’m typing up my shadowing project notes. Busy, busy with the semester coming to an end.
What a beautiful weekend it’s been! Lyns, Ash and I had fun outside on the porch.
Ashley, Lee and I took Roo up to the lake.
I loved laying on the boat as it rocked in the evening sunset.
On Sunday morning Dad, Mo and I went to speak at Carl and Pat Barrington’s church.
What a fun group. They ranged from 19-75 years old. Loved it.
Talked to Rebecca Hampton up at Cowboy church. I’m looking forward to spending the night up there in Jerusalem, Ga this weekend.
Took a hard World History essay exam today over the Struggle of Orders, the Roman Republic and Early Christianity. I should have studied more but I’ll be the first to admit I’ve come down with summeritious.
Jessica and I tried these new Sally Henson nail art stickers. Really easy to put on and it’s like having a mini piece of art on your finger.
Sent some letters out and got my first prayer-gram back today from Rachel and her family. Would you like to get a prayer-gram from your favorite missionary?
Send me an email ashleycummins@gmail.com with your home address and I’d love to pray for you.
